Maria S. Antuña was elected to Seat 4 of the Village of Wellington Council in 2024. Antuña is a distinguished leader with a remarkable journey, beginning with her birth in Matanzas, Cuba, and subsequent immigration to the USA in 1962. After decades of service in the banking industry, when Maria retired, she found her new calling in life by taking on the leadership of the Hispanic Chamber of Palm Beach County, a 584-member organization whose mission is to support business owners, educational and health issues in the community. In 2015, Maria assumed the role of Executive Director at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, quickly ascending to the position of CEO.

Maria's advocacy extends to education, health, and business growth, where she has made a significant impact within Palm Beach County. Her efforts were instrumental in the Chamber's recognition as one of seven recipients of the USHCC/MBDA partnership, offering critical services to small businesses during the pandemic. Her infectious enthusiasm, positive demeanor, and dedication to supporting minority-owned businesses have earned her widespread acclaim and numerous awards for the Chamber's commitment to the community.

Maria's influence extends beyond her professional achievements. She is an active member of various boards and committees, contributing significantly to her community. Together with her husband Juan, she has been a resident of Wellington, Florida, since 1978.

Among her notable accomplishments, Maria has been recognized by Senator Rick Scott as a Hispanic Community Leader and received the Community Leadership Award from the Hispanic Education Coalition. Additionally, she has been acknowledged by West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James for her contributions to the Mayor's Task Force for Racial and Ethnic Equality. Maria is a member of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Wellington Rotary Club, the Criminal Justice Commission Board of PBC, and serve as Vice-Chair of the Architectural Review Board for the Village of Wellington.
